A shift of events at Olympique Lyonnais and Stade Rennais might just be defining Bruno Genesio's coaching career.
A Shift at Olympique Lyonnais
The landscape at Olympique Lyonnais has seen significant transformation. Pierre Sage, the interim coach, has ushered in a wind of change, positively impacting the team's performance. Sage's influence has resulted in an impressive run of three back-to-back wins against formidable opponents – Toulouse, Monaco, and Nantes. These victories have enabled the team to claw their way out of the relegation zone.
Given these positive strides, it would not be a surprise if Sage holds on to his position for a while longer. Therefore, the chances of a potential succession by Bruno Genesio, the former Stade Rennais coach, seem to be growing slimmer.
Genesio, A Potential Move to Besiktas?
Genesio might just be packing his bags for Turkey. Besiktas, a team currently ranking fifth in the Turkish Süper Lig, is reportedly courting the seasoned coach. The Turkish team recently relieved coach Riza Çalimbay of his duties during a challenging period and seems to have initiated discussions with Genesio.
Genesio, who voluntarily left Stade Rennais in November, seems to be receptive to Besiktas' advances. Should he agree to terms with Besiktas, it would mark his second stint abroad, following his successful tenure at Beijing Guoan in China from 2019 to 2021.
Note: The situation remains fluid and nothing is certain until an official announcement is made.
