Philippe Diallo, the President of the French Football Federation, recently declared the unveiling of an innovative referee's audio system in Ligue 1 for the upcoming season. This system, heavily advocated to FIFA, is designed to help spectators and TV viewers comprehend the decisions made by the referee, particularly when the VAR system is put to use to validate or dispute a decision.
Testing the New System
The promising audio system is set to make its debut during the women's French Cup final on May 4. It will also be used later that month during the men's final on May 25. The system is a result of inspiration taken from the American football and NBA.
Criticism and Doubts
The current season has seen a surge in criticism of refereeing decisions in French football, primarily due to a series of errors. Daniel Riolo, a sports journalist, has expressed reservations about the system, expressing skepticism about its potential to eradicate these errors.
