For the second consecutive week the St. John’s men’s soccer team is ranked in the Top-10 of the United Soccer Coaches Division I poll.

Sitting at No. 9 in the poll, the past week for the Red Storm (7-1-0) included matches with two Top-25 opponents. On Friday, St. John’s defeated then-No. 19 ranked Xavier 3-1 at Belson Stadium.

Monday night’s matchup against then-No. 25 Maryland, the defending national champions, went extra time. In the 109th minute, the Terrapins Brett St. Martin scored the game-winning goal to defeat St. John’s 1-0, the Red Storm’s first loss of the season.

In the United Soccer Coaches Atlantic Region poll, Hofstra remained in the Top-10 ranked at No. 6. This past week, the Pride went 1-1 losing to Stony Brook 2-1 on September 18 and defeating Elon 3-2 on September 21.
