Pirlo First MLS Player To Be Named Among FIFA Elite

For the first time in Major League Soccer history, a league player has been included as one of 55 players name to the FIFA FiFPro World XI.

New York City FC midfielder Andrea Pirlo is included in this exclusive group that includes players from top European leagues including the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and Serie A.

Pirlo joined NYC FC this past summer after helping Juventus reach the Champions League finals, where the Italian side lost to Barcelona.

Pirlo finished his inaugural MLS campaign in New York with five assists in 13 games (12 starts).

The World XI is voted on by nearly 25,000 players, and consists of one goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders and three forwards.
