The Merrick/South Merrick Elite are Arch Gold Cup champions after they defeated Lake Grove/Newfield Magic 3-1 in the Girls U-10 Finals.
Skylar Mondelli, Isabella Tristaino and Cameron Zubiria scored for the Elite in the match that was played Saturday, June 3 at Stringham Park in LaGrange, N.Y.

“The difference in the game was our defense,” said Karloff Rosario, Merrick/South Merrick coach. “We have a very experienced defense of goalkeeper Olivia Ruisi plus defenders Kiera Sheridan and Cameron Zubiria, which contained Lake Grove/Newfield.”
Lake Grove/Newfield received the Rocco Amoroso Sportsmanship Award as determined by the game officials. Amoroso, a US Soccer Life Member who died in 2016, started the LIJSL Sportsmanship Program in 1980 that would later expand to Eastern New York, nationally and then to China and Ireland.
