Six soccer teams from Long Island high schools were ranked in national boys and girls weekly polls from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
In the boys poll released on September 20, Chaminade (4-1-1) is ranked seventh, up from number 14 the previous week In addition, Brentwood (5-0-1) comes in at number 13 after not being ranked the previous week.
During the past week, Chaminade earned wins over St. Dominic 3-1 and Kellenberg 5-1. Brentwood enjoyed a strong week with wins over Commack 3-1, William Floyd 2-1 and Ward Melville 2-0.
The NSCAA girls poll features Massapequa (4-0-0) maintaining its spot at No. 5, Islip (4-0-2) moving up one spot to No. 10, St. Anthony’s (2-0-0) up one spot to No. 14 and Northport (4-0-0) entering the Top-25 at No. 23.
Massapequa during the past week had wins over Oceanside 5-1 and Syosset 6-1, while Islip was also victorious twice defeating John Glenn 6-1 and Shoreham-Wading River 3-0. St. Anthony’s girls soccer defeated St. John The Baptist 2-0 and topped Our Lady of Mercy 3-0, while Northport lit up the scoreboard with a 6-2 win over Bay Shore and and 8-0 victory over Riverhead.
