The LIU Post and Adelphi soccer teams maintained their places among the top Division II squads in the nation in recent polls from United Soccer Coaches.

In the men’s poll for Week 3 released on September 19, Adelphi maintained its No. 3 ranking in a Top-5 that was unchanged from the previous week and featured in order the University of Charleston, Simon Fraser University, Lynn University and Lenoir-Rhyne University.

LIU Post moved up on spot and now sits at No. 8.

During the past week, Adelphi defeated Stonehill College 3-2 and Saint Michael’s College 5-0. The Panthers’ senior forward Andre de Giorgi had three goals in the two games and was named the Northeast-10 Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for the second consecutive week.

LIU Post won its only match of the week, a 3-2 victory over Post College. In the win, senior Harry Pearse had a goal and an assist.

In the women’s poll, Adelphi made a big move, jumping eight spots to No. 8, while LIU Post dropped five spots to No. 12.

The Panthers during the past week had a pair of 2-1 victories over Pace University and Saint Anselm College. Senior forward Jeanine Nunez led the Adelphi offense with three goals, one against Pace and two vs. Saint Anselm.

LIU Post went 1-1 this past week. Alice Schonfeldt scored twice to lead the Pioneers to a 3-0 win over Jefferson University. The team’s first defeat of the season came in 2-0 loss to Merrimack.
