New York City FC’s Sean Johnson and Aaron Long of the New York Red Bulls are among the 28 players that will train with the U.S. National Team (USMNT) ahead of the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup.

Johnson is one of three keepers being called into camp by head coach Gregg Berhalter. He joins Zack Steffan of the Columbus Crew and LAFC’s Tyler Miller. Long is among nine defenders that will take part in training.

The final list of 23 players for the Gold Cup is due by midnight of June 5. The official announcement will take place the following day.

The U.S. will prepare for the Gold Cup with a June 5 match against Jamaica in Washington, D.C. Kickoff at Audi Field is set for 7 p.m. On June 9, the U.S. will meet Venezuela at Nippert Stadium in Cincinnati. Kickoff is 2 p.m.

“After a great week of training, we now enter the phase of playing competitive matches,” said Berhalter. “The game against Jamaica will represent an opportunity for us to evaluate new prospects as well as continue to develop the group for the Gold Cup. We are excited about the group coming in and the opportunity ahead of us this summer.”

The U.S. is in Group D for the upcoming Gold Cup. They open the tournament on June 18 against Guyana at Allianz Stadium in Minnesota. Match 2 will take place June 22 against Trinidad & Tobago at FirstEnergy Field in Cleveland. The Americans close out group stage play against Panama on June 26 at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas.
