Hofstra’s senior midfielder Meshack Eshun Addy is one of 30 candidates for the 2017 Senior CLASS Award.
Managed by Premier Sports Management, the “Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School” (CLASS) Award recognizes Division I soccer student-athletes who have excelled in four areas: community, classroom, character and competition.
Award winners are determined by a selection process that includes NCAA Division I college coaches in each respective sport, national media and fans. Public fan voting on the Senior CLASS Award website takes place each year during the month leading up to the NCAA Championship.
A 2016 First-Team All-Colonial Athletic Association selection, Eshun Addy tied for second on last season’s squad with six goals and finished with 14 points. He had a team-high three game-winning goals.
Off the pitch and in the classroom the native of Tema, Ghana, is a Political Science major with a minor in International Affairs and has a cumulative 3.40 Grade Point Average through the 2016-17 academic year.
During his time on Long Island, Eshun Addy has been active in several organizations including Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island, Nassau County Youth Court Program, Massapequa Soccer Club and Raleigh City Farms.
The class of 30 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season, with those 10 names being placed on the official ballot. The ballots will then be distributed to media, coaches and fans, and one final winner will be selected. The winner will be announced during the 2017 NCAA Men’s College Cup in December.
