Gagliardi Named Skyline WSOC Player Of The Week

The final week of September was a big one for Christina Gagliardi, who was named the Skyline Conference women’s soccer player of the week

The junior at St. Joseph’s College received the honor following impressive performances in back-to-back matches against St. Joseph’s (Brooklyn) and York College.

On September 25, the Ronkonkoma native and graduate of Sachem North High School, scored two goals and added an assist in a 4-0 win over St. Joe’s. Five days later, Gagliardi notched a hat-trick in an 8-0 win over York. She is now the all-time leading goal scorer for the Golden Eagles with 32, surpassing Angie Merante who set the record of 31 in 2009.

In her three years at the Patchogue-based college, Gagliardi has been a fixture on the pitch and a reliable goal-scorer. In 14 games during her freshman season, she scored eight goals and would net 19 goals in her sophomore season. This season to date she has six goals in seven games.

In addition, the Skyline Conference also named Farmingdale State’s Kayla Duvenhorst its Rookie of the Week.

The Levittown native and MacArthur High School graduate collect the first two goals of her college career in a win over Old Westbury.
