Four Long Island high school soccer teams — three girls and one boys’ — were nationally ranked in Top-25 polls released September 17 by United Soccer Coaches.
In the girls poll, Northport is ranked No. 6 after being unranked the week before, Smithtown West is ranked No. 11 after also being unranked the previous week and St. Anthony’s enters the poll at No. 24.
In the week leading up to the current poll, Northport had wins over Walt Whitman 4-1 and Sachem East 2-1. Smithtown East defeated Central Islip 6-0, played to a scoreless draw with Huntington and defeated Centereach 2-0. St. Anthony’s had wins over Shenendehowa 2-1 and St. John The Baptist 6-0 and played Kellenberg to a scoreless draw.
On the boys’ side, Amityville moved up nine spots to No. 11. This past week, the Warriors defeated Miller Place 8-0, Westhampton 9-0 and Elwood/John Glenn 2-1.
Also, Brentwood and Massapequa received votes in this week’s boys’ poll but sit outside the Top-25.
