Long Island native Crystal Dunn and three members of the Sky Blue FC have been named to the U.S. Women’s National Team roster ahead of the SheBelieves Cup.
Dunn will be among the 26 players called into camp by Head Coach Vlatko Andonovski. Joining the Rockville Centre naive are Sky Blue’s Carli Lloyd, Mallory Pugh and Margaret Purce.
The SheBelieves Cup training camp includes the 20 players that recently completed in the CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Tournament, won the by the United States, and six additional players. The U.S. will have a 23-player roster for the tournament, which begins March 5.
This year’s SheBelieves Cup includes the World Champion U.S., No. 6 England, No. 10 Japan and No. 13 Spain. All matches will be shown on the networks of ESPN.
“As a team, we have lots of positive feelings coming out of Olympic Qualifying, but I think we all know that there’s still a lot of room for growth for this group and there’s no better way to continue that process than to play teams like England, Spain and Japan,” said Andonovski.
“We’re looking forward to a productive camp in Orlando and the challenge of playing three fantastic sides over seven days. The rhythm of the SheBelieves Cup schedule directly matches what we will face in group play at the Olympics, and the value of getting a test run against this level of competition cannot be overstated.”
The U.S. begins play in the SheBelieves Cup on Thursday, March 5, against England at Exploria Stadium in Orlando, Fla. (7 p.m. ET on ESPN2 and TUDN). Three days later the U.S. will meet Spain at Red Bull Arena. Kick-off is 5 p.m (ESPN and TUDN). The tournament will finish on Wednesday, March 11, at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas, when the U.S. will face off against Japan (8 p.m. ET ESPNews and TUDN).
