Freshman Isabel Sandstrom and junior Savannah Taylor were honored by the Northeast-10 Conference for their performance in a 2-0 week for the sixth-ranked Adelphi University women’s soccer team last week, earning Rookie and Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively.

Taylor helped lead an Adelphi defense which posted two shutouts last week in wins over Southern Connecticut and Le Moyne, running the team’s streak to three straight. She also added an assist on the second goal of a 3-0 win at Le Moyne, her second of the season.

Sandstrom doubled her shutout total for the season by posting two clean sheets in net for Adelphi in a 2-0 week for the Panthers. The freshman keeper made five saves total in NE10 wins at SCSU and Le Moyne, lowering her GAA to 0.68 to rank 3rd in the NE10.

Landing on the honor roll for their performances last week were Kerianne Scorce (Massapequa), who scored a pair of game-winning goals, and Jessica Petry (Levittown), who tallied the first two goals of her Adelphi career.
