It’s been several months since Dana Poetzsch has been on the pitch for Molloy College, but the accolades from her freshman year keep coming.

The Hicksville native was named Molloy’s Freshman Female Athlete of the Year. A graduate of Hicksville High School, Poetzsch had a stellar freshman campaign in which she scored 16 goals and added 2 assists and started 16 games of the 18 games in which she appeared.

She was also named the East Coast Conference Rookie of the Year, was named to the All-Conference First Team and earned D2CCA All-East Region Second Team honors. Poetzsch was also named ECC Offensive Player of the Week twice (October 2 and October 30) and ECC Rookie of the Week (September 11).

Her first season with Molloy included two hat-tricks; September 28 vs. Georgian Court and October 28 vs. Daemen.
