Three former or current members of St. John’s Women’s Soccer Team will be suiting up for international play over the coming weeks.
Rachel Daly, the most prolific offensive talent in program history, will join the England Senior Women’s National Team for its World Cup Qualifier in Russia on June 8.
Daly, who has 10 international caps with England’s senior national team, is currently in her third season with the Houston Dash of the National Women’s Soccer League. The Harrogate, England, native currently leads the Dash with four goals and is just one away from tying her career high of five set last year.
Between 2013-15, Daly netted 50 goals for the Red Storm, shattering the program’s career scoring record and leading the Johnnies to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances.
A fellow England product, Lucy Whipp is set to make the latest in a long line of international appearances. The Ormskirk native, who has earned caps with the U-15, U-17 and U-19 squads, will join England’s U-23 side for a road friendly against Sweden on June 9. A rising senior, Whipp ranked second on the Red Storm as a junior with seven points on one goal and five assists.
Zsani Kajan, a fixture on the Hungarian senior national team since the age of 16, will head home for a pair of matches. The Hungarians will host Greece in a friendly on June 6 before heading to Denmark for a World Cup Qualifying match on June 12.
