It was a tight battle with No. 23 Princeton, but in the end, Hofstra fell to the Tigers 2-1 in women’s soccer action Sunday night at Plummer Field at Roberts Stadium.

After falling behind 2-0, the Pride fought back and would cut the deficit in half when Sabrina Bryan in the 29th minute headed home a pass from Jenn Buoncore of Kings Park for her second of the season.

Bryan’s goal came after Princeton scored in the second minute and again in the 20th minute to take a 2-0 lead.

In the second half, Hofstra kept the pressure on Princeton, outshooting the Tigers 7-5 but Princeton keeper Natalie Grossi saved all four second-half shots on goal to preserve the win for the home side.

Ashley Wilson of Glen Cove made one save in goal for Hofstra. Bryan led the Pride with four shots while Miri Taylor had two shots, both of which were on goal.

Hofstra will head west Thursday to New York City Thursday night to take on Columbia University. Game time is 6 p.m.
