Hicksville’s Tim Parker is among three New York Red Bulls chosen for the U.S. Men’s National Team’s 24-man roster for the team’s upcoming friendlies against Brazil and Mexico.

The squad assembled by head coach Dave Sarachan leans toward the young side with several up-and-coming players goalkeeper Zack Steffan (Columbus Crew), Weston McKennie (Schalke) and Tim Weah (Paris Saint-Germain) included.

The other two Red Bulls on the USMNT roster are midfielder Tyler Adams and defender Aaron Long.

Perhaps the most notable name missing is Christian Pulisic (Borussia Dortmund) who will not join the team due to injury.

The U.S. and Brazil will meet Friday, September 7, at Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. Kick off is 7:30 p.m. eastern time. Four days later, long-time rivals Mexico will face the red, white and blue at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tenn for an 8:30 p.m. eastern time start

“For these matches against Brazil and Mexico, the theme remains the same in that we are using the opportunity against these high-powered opponents to continue building on the foundation that we’ve laid,” said Sarachan. “We felt it was right to continue allowing this group to get valuable experience for the big picture that includes competitive matches in the future with the Gold Cup, Olympic Qualifying and World Cup Qualifying.”

The U.S. is currently scheduled to face four teams ranked in the FIFA Top 20 as part of its so-called Kickoff Series, including Brazil (3), England (6), Colombia (14) and Mexico (16). With the final match expected to be announced soon, the six-game set is designed to provide the young U.S. side with top-level competition as the road to the 2022 World Cup begins.
