With Fire On Horizon, Marsch Updates On Injuries

Saturday will be a homecoming for Dax McCarty as the former New York Red Bulls captain returns to Red Bull Arena with his Chicago Fire teammates.

With kickoff set for 7:30 p.m., the match will also mark the first appearance for German superstar Bastian Schweinsteiger against the Red Bulls.

Jesse Marsch, New York’s head coach, provided an injury update:

  • Bradley Wright-Phillips: after being substituted in the Red Bulls 2-0 win over Columbus Crew, Marsch said Wright-Phillips is fine. The striker, who was seen stretching his hamstring in the second half of the Crew match, took part in training.
  • Tyler Adams: Adams was attended to during Saturday’s win over Columbus, but Marsch said he is “fine” and he trained in full.
  • Sal Zizzo: The defender was on the field on Tuesday in a limited capacity and is hopeful to be on the roster against Chicago.
  • Mike Grella: Marsch said that the team is hopeful Grella will return to training with the team on Wednesday.
