This week in the Long Island Soccer Football League saw a return to league games and a couple of big derby matches. The LISFL Classico between Glen Cove and Forest Park along with the New York Polet vs New York Serbia games made for an exciting Sunday.
Glen Cove Avellino and Forest Park battled to a 3-3 draw. Forest Park Head Coach Vincent Treglia gave this account of the game, “Glen Cove was winning 3-1 with 8 minutes to go when Adan Velasquez broke thru on a breakaway circled the keeper and made it 2-3. FP kept pushing on a long ball over the top cause the GC keeper to rush out and bring down Carlos Palomo for a PK with no time left. Adan finished his late-game heroics by calmly slotting a well-placed PK into the goal to tie the game at 3.” Tyler de la Torre had a brace and Lucas Campos added a goal for Glen Cove.
New York Serbia Head Coach Alex Matovic gave this account of the game against Polet, “NY Serbia Premier and Polet played a defensive first half and went into the break 0-0. Second half Serbia came out pushing and with a few fakes by Boban Velcanovic he was able to find the net from outside the box on a deflection. Polet came back and scored to tie the game back up. Polet took the lead with a nice low corner finish but Serbia came back up the field pushing and with a great pass by Itamar Pereira, Dejan Tolmac was able to convert and make it 2-2. Then with 10 minutes left, Dejan Tolmac was able to chest down a beautiful pass in the box and got dragged down from behind and Serbia was awarded a penalty. Boban Velcanovic stepped up and buried it in the left corner giving Serbia the 3-2 win. Great game by both teams it was a fight till the end!!” Tyler Khan and Ivan Vulin were the goalscorers for Polet.
Two goals from Gavin Elphie were enough to give the in-form Real New York FC a 2-1 win over Kosmos United CY. Nikolas Touros was the goalscorer for Kosmos.
Forest Park came away with a 3-1 over Glen Cove Avellino. Delwin Hernandez, Aaron Gallusser, and Jhecsson Garcia each scored a goal for Forest Park, while Austin Musselwhite was the Glen Cove goalscorer.
New York Polet defeated New York Serbia 6-3. New York Serbia Head Coach Alex Matovic gave this account of the game, “NY Serbia Div1 started off to a shaky start with the wet conditions. Polet took an early lead and kept the pressure up scoring another two goals. Serbia pulled one back with a simple finish by Jabari Salandy and then Polet added another before the half to go up 4-1. Second half Serbia came out fighting and got another goal by Alex Jovanski but Polet countered and scored again to make it 5-2. A couple of chances by Serbia came up short and Polet capitalized again to make it 6 for them. Serbia put some beautiful passes together and scored a third goal by Jabari Salandy and that’s how the game would end!”
Robert Filipovic and Ahmed Ismael each scored a brace with Anderson Osorio and Jose Torres adding goals for Polet in the win.
Paul Thompson had a brace to give Real New York FC another 2-1 win over Kosmos United CY. Matthew Laya-Vetell was the Kosmos goalscorer.
New York West Indies United defeated College Point Flames 3-0 to claim first place in the division. Fernander Demas, Herve Valcourt, and James Cadet each scored a goal for West Indies.
South Jamaica Portuguese defeated Floral Park 2-1 on a goal by Alex Silva and a Floral Park own goal. Justin McDougall was the Floral Park goalscorer.
Goals by Juan Castillo and Isak Doumbia gave Olympiacos New York a 2-0 win over Oyster Bay Park.
Pro-Touch Eagles United dropped their first points of the season in a 3-3 tie with Leros. Nelson Argueta had a brace and Cristhian Banegas added a goal for Pro-Touch. Vincent Companion had a brace and Julian Escobar added a goal for Leros who remain in first place with 14 points from six games.
Asteras GCC had a convincing 6-0 win over NYPD Soccer Club. Christopher Petsalis had a hat trick, Faidon Theofilakos a brace, and George Papapostolou added a goal for Leros.
The Farmingville Portuguese renaissance continued as they defeated NYCD Boldest Soccer FC 6-1. Vinny Hammel had a hat trick with Fabio Alves, Tiago Siopa, and Fernando Lopez adding goals for Farmingville. Damian Staron scored the lone goal for the Boldest.
Guyana Jaguars Juniors defeated Atletico Union 7-1 on a Devon Millington hat trick and goals by Bradley Nestor, Julian Cambridge, Dexter Primo, and Duane Pearson. Alexis Brenes scored the lone goal for Atletico.
SS Cosma Damiano picked up their second win of the season by a score of 3-1 over Asteras New York. Luigi Prudente had a brace and Victor Ortiz added a goal for Cosma Damiano. Tarko Ersid scored for Asteras.
Glen Cove remains undefeated after winning 4-2 over Istria. Craig Gordon had a hat trick, while Damion James added a goal for Glen Cove. Silvio Zucchelli had a brace for Istria.
Integral Kings and Polonez battled to a 3-3 draw to remain in the hunt for first place. Nateka Simmons had a brace and Marcus Julien added a goal. Grzegorz Panek, Adam Piechota, and Andrzej Kadzielawski were the Polonez goalscorers.
Phil Ng, Sami Ortega, and Geoff O’Connell each had a goal for Garden City Centennials in their 3-0 win over New York Hota Bavarians.
Port Jefferson had goals from Pete Ramirez, Stanley LaRoche, Hassan Olowu, Herman Ortiz, Ricardo Monasterio, and Anthony Trapani to defeat Long Island Gaels VSP 6-0.
Lindenhurst defeated Olympiacos New York 4-1 to keep pace with division leaders Baisley United. Pedro Fragosa, Jay Renick, Anthony Fassino, and C. Dossantos each scored for Lindenhurst. Nikola Dokic was the goalscorer for Olympiacos.
Colson Medy and Jean Dutreuil each scored a goal for Baldwin in their 2-1 win over Oyster Bay Park. Claudio Villaroel scored for Oyster Bay.
New York Hota Bavarians won by a score of 6-1 over Oceanside United. Cheick Tidiani and Adrian Romo each had a brace, while Phil O’Hara and Carlos Ferreira added goals for Hota. Godswill Emenike was the Oceanside goalscorer.
Baisley United remained on top of the division on goal difference by defeating Polonia 3-1. Lloyd Matthews had a hat trick for Baisley, while Dariusz Stefanowski scored for Polonia.
New York Hota Bavarians came away from Oceanside with a 4-3 win to remain level on points with Baisley at the top of the division. Raymond Campbell had a brace with Patrick O’Connor and Klifton Kong adding goals for Hota. Brahim Atlagh, Hector Prieto-Valladares, and Marco Pesantez were the goalscorers for Oceanside United.
Olympiacos New York won 4-2 over New York Polet / Rudar. Nick Iosif had a brace with Konstantinos Tsirkas and Diamantis Sinis adding goals for Olympiacos. Ivica Kajic and Zoran Grgurovic each scored for Polet / Rudar.
Massapequa SC defeated Oyster Bay Park 5-1 on a brace by Rafael Ramirez with David Intrabartolo, John Lignos, and Chris McGuiness adding goals. Eber Paiva was the Oyster Bay goalscorer.
