The New York Cosmos continue to build its roster with the return of two former players and one with connections to Long Island.
Bledi Bardic and Darwin Espinal have resigned with the club while former Elmont resident Aaron Dennis has signed with New York.
A three-year veteran of the club, Bardic established himself as one of the NPSL’s premier strikers in 2018. He scored 10 goals to help to lead the team to a 10-0-0 record.
“I’m very excited to be back,” he said. “I’m very motivated to be back and start the preseason right and work hard every single day. I’m looking forward to playing in front of our fans and doing our best to try to win trophies.”
Espinal scored seven goals with Cosmos B during the 2018 NPSL campaign, helping the team to the North Atlantic Conference title. He was also named NPSL National Player of the Week after he scored twice in a 4-0 victory over Boston City FC last April.
“I’m very excited to be back and looking forward to building on last season, individually and as a team,” Espinal said.
Dennis, who grew up in Elmont, has ties to the organization having played in the Cosmos Academy from 2010-2011.
“I’m extremely excited to have signed with the team,” he said. “Before I went away to college, I captained the U-18 Cosmos team and also got some experience with the U-23 side as well. It was always a dream of mine to play for the team professionally and the time has finally come. I’m looking forward to meeting the guys and getting to work.”
In addition to Bardic, Espinal and Dennis, New York in December resigned captain and midfielder Danny Szetela.
