Hofstra’s women’s soccer team heads into postseason play with an unblemished conference record following its dramatic 2-1 victory Sunday over Charleston.

With the win, the Pride (13-3-2) finishes play in the Colonial Athletic Association with a perfect 9-0-0 record. In addition, the team extends its winning streak to 10 games and its unbeaten streak to 12 games.

In the 24th minute, Hofstra took the lead as freshman Bella Richards put away a rebound off a Monique Iannella corner kick. It was the third goal of the season for Richards.

That one-goal lead would hold for much of the match until the 84th minute. Charleston’s Talia Colchico scored her first of the season off a corner kick from  Laura Ortega.

As the clock wound toward the end of regulation Hofstra’s last-minute push would result in the game-winner. Senior Kristin Desmond (Northport) was able to break up a Charleston clear and find Rachel Cardinal, who slotted home.

Hofstra now has a bye week while the CAA Quarterfinals are underway and will return to action on Nov. 3, hosting the CAA Semifinals at Hofstra Soccer Stadium.
