Two Long Island players have been named to their respective age group’s Best XI at the recent U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships in Frisco, Tex.
Midfielder Talani Barnett of HBC Impact was named to the Best XI in the Girls Under-17 Division, while Christopher McAuliff, a forward for Dix Hills Elite, was named to the Best XI in the Boys Under 19/20 Divison.
Barnett, who had three goals in the recent National Championships, and her Impact teammates reached the national semi-finals before falling to Ohio’s CUP Gold 3-1 on July 29. McAuliff and Dix Hills Elite bowed out the national championships in the Group States winning one of its three matches.
