The Northeast-10 weekly women’s soccer awards for Week 6 featured several players with connections to Long Island.
Adelphi freshman goalkeeper Isabel Sandstrom was named the conference Rookie of the Week. She recorded her fourth consecutive shutout, running her scoreless streak in net to 389:20 in a 2-0 win over #18 Southern New Hampshire University, making three saves and lowering her GAA to 0.61 to rank third in the NE10. It’s the second straight week she received league Rookie of the Week honors.
The Week 6 NE-10 Honor Roll included:
- Nicole Forte, Adelphi (Senior, Defense, Huntington) Forte helped Adelphi shut out #18 Southern New Hampshire on Saturday, 2-0 in the team’s lone game of the week. She recorded a defensive save in the 12th minute of the scoreless game, helping the Panthers become just the second team to shut out the Penmen this season.
- Kerianne Scorce, Adelphi (Sophomore, Forward, Massapequa) Scorce scored her fifth goal of the season and third-straight game-winner in a 2-0 win over #18 Southern New Hampshire on Saturday. The sophomore forward upped her total to five goals on the season in the win.
- Emily Morello, New Haven (Junior, Midfield/Forward, Kings Park) Morello scored a pair of goals on the week, including a game-winner. She opened the week with a goal against Stonehill, connecting for the first of two goals in a 2-1 win over the Skyhawks. On Saturday, she netted the game-winning goal in the 65th minute when she got on the end of a series of headers off a corner kick, drilling home her third goal of the season.
- Paige Salmon, Southern New Hampshire (Senior, Goalkeeper, W. Hempstead) Salmon made 15 of 18 saves during a 1-1-0 week for the Penmen. She turned aside seven of the eight shots she saw in a 2-1 overtime win at Merrimack on Tuesday and then racked up a season-high eight stops in Saturday’s 2-0 loss at Adelphi.
