UWS Inaugural Season Kicks Off In Long Island

UWSlogoRedRGB (1)The inaugural United Women’s Soccer (UWS) season will kick off in mid-May with the first game taking place in Long Island.

On Saturday, May 14, the Long Island Rough Riders will host New Jersey Copy F.C. at St. Anthony’s High School in Huntington Station in an East Conference matchup. Game time is 5 p.m. A week later, the first UWS West Conference match will feature the host Houston Aces and the Santa Clarita Blue Heat. Game time at Houston Sports Park is 7 p.m.

“The Long Island Rough Riders are thrilled to be part of the inaugural game of UWS,” said Flavio Ferri, Rough Riders general manager. “Our club has always strived to be at the forefront of the advancement of women’s soccer and we are proud to be a part of this historic UWS season.”

Carlos Marroquin, owner of the Blue Heat, said of his team’s first match, “Obviously, I’m tremendously happy and excited to be part of the inaugural game for the UWS West Conference. We all want to make this the best pro-am women’s soccer league in the USA. Our team will bring the quality necessary to be sure we can fight for both a conference and national title.”
