U.S. Men A Step Closer To Olympic Qualifying

U23MNTThe U.S. Men are one step away from returning to the Olympics following its 4-0 win over Panama at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Colorado.

Scoreless heading to the second half, the U.S. Men’s Under-23 Men’s National Team took the lead at the 50th minute on an own goal from Panama defender Fidel Escobar.

Three minutes later, Jerome Kiesewetter gave the U.S. a 2-0 lead and Jordan Morris at the 56th minute and Luis Gil from the spot at the 71st minute rounded out the scoring.

The U.S. will face the loser of Group B’s Mexico-Honduras clash (if the teams tie, the U.S. will play Honduras) in the first semifinal which kicks off from Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah at 1 p.m. MT (3 p.m. ET) on Oct. 10. The second semifinal will follow immediately after from the same stadium and both matches will be broadcast on Telemundo.

Teams who make the final automatically qualify for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil.

The victory finishes a 3-0 run for the United States through group play, following wins over Cuba (6-1) and Canada (3-1).
