Two Long Islanders are among the eight players heading to Marist College this fall to play for head coach Leigh Howard.
Forward Brooke Cergol and of Mt. Sinai and Melina Serrao of Oceanside are among the latest addition to the Foxes’ roster that already includes seven players from Long Island.
A graduate of Mt. Sinai High School, Cergoal spent six years on the varsity team. She finished her high school career with 47 goals and 16 assists and in 2016 helped the Mustangs to the school’s first-ever Suffolk County championship.
Cergol was a two-time All-State honoree, was named All-County three times, served as team captain and was named team most valuable player.
She played her club ball with SUSA Academy’s ECNL G-01 team, which was a 2017 NPL National Champion and 2018 semifinalist.
Away from soccer, Cergol was a member of her high school’s basketball team, scoring 1,000 points and winning the Suffolk County Class A title in her senior season.
Serrao is a graduate of Oceanside High School. During her senior season, she had 12 goals and eight assists, helping lead her team to a 10-1-2 record.
She played her club ball with FC Fury NY’s U-18/19 team in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy.
