The women’s soccer team at SUNY Maritime has added two new members to its coaching staff that each has Long Island roots.
Carly Schneider and Timothy Etienne are joining the staff of head coach Robyn Serge.
A native of Merrick and graduate of Bellmore JFK High School, Schneider played her college soccer at Farmingdale State College. While with the Rams, she was a member of Skyline Conference championship teams for four consecutive years. Those teams also made four straight trips to the NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Championship.
As a student-athlete, she played in 74 career soccer matches and scored 19 goals including six in both her freshman and sophomore seasons. She finished her career with 43 points.
Graduating with a degree in sports management, Schneider has been working in the athletics field since her time in college. She currently works at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum as an event receptionist, while also working on the game day staff for the New York Lizards of Major League Lacrosse. She also coaches youth soccer with the Soccer Shots Long Island West organization.
Schneider will assist Serge in the day-to-day operations of the program, recruiting, as well as in practices and during game competition.
Etienne also joins the staff beginning this fall, and currently works in TotalSeniorCare Experience and has held his position there since January of 2009. Prior to TotalSeniorCare, he worked for The Supply Expert as an Owner Operator.
He played four seasons of varsity soccer at South Side High School in Rockville Centre before attending SUNY Brockport, where he earned his degree in Criminal Justice in 1984. He later went on to earn a degree in Geriatric Social Work from York (NY) College in 2009.
In his new position at Maritim, Etienne will assist with the program’s recruiting efforts.
