The accolades for Valley Stream’s Mia Asenjo keep rolling in, with the last coming from the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL).
As a member of SUSA FC’s ECNL U-16 team, Asenjo was one of 30 players selected to the ECNL’s All-American Team. She was also recently selected for the Dominican Republic Women’s 2019 Training Camp.
The ECNL honor is the latest for a player who in September will begin her junior year of high school at Valley Stream South.
This past fall, Asenjo was a key figure in leading the Lady Falcons to the New York State Class A Championship, finishing the season with 22 goals and 17 assists. Beginning the playoffs as a No. 18 seed, Valley Stream South would end their season with a 1-0 overtime win over Jamesville-DeWitt in the state title game.
Asenjo was also named a United Soccer Coaches High School All-American, one of only four sophomores to receive the honor. She was also named a New York State Class A All-State player.
