It was a battle of unbeaten teams and in the end, SUSA FC left its home field at Bayport-Blue Point High School with a 3-2 win over Rhode Island Rogues.

Kelly Marra scored twice, including the game-winning goal, and Julia Duffy also found the back of the net for SUSA.

With the win, SUSA moves to 4-0-0 on the season and is now alone in first place in the WPSL’s Metropolitan Conference. Rhode Island is now 3-1-1.

The match between division rivals was a physical battle throughout. Rhode Island took an early lead but SUSA battle back and scored three straight goals to take a 3-1 lead. Rhode Island would pull a goal back in the second half but was unable to find the equalizer.

SUSA’s next three matches will be on the road — June 17 at New York Athletic Club, June 23 at New Jersey Wildcats and June 24 at Rhode Island Rogues. They close out their regular season schedule at home on June 30 against Long Island Fury.
