Stony Brook’s men’s soccer team will begin defense of its America East regular-season title as the No. 2 ranked team in the America East Conference Preseason Coaches Poll.

The Seawolves, which received three first-place votes in the poll, sit behind defending conference champion New Hampshire. UMBC and UMass Lowell sit tied for third.

Stony Brook returns seven starters from 2018, including leading goal-scorer and America East First Team member, senior striker Jarred Dass and America East Second Team member, senior defenseman Gustavo Fernandes of West Babylon.

Returning for his ninth season, head coach Ryan Anatol and the reigning America East Coaching Staff of the Year will take the field on August 30 to open the 2019 campaign against St. Francis Brooklyn in Brooklyn.
