St. John’s sophomore forward Tani Oluwaseyi was named the Big East men’s soccer Offensive Player of the Week.

The native of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, recorded his first career brace in the Red Storm’s 4-0 road win over Marquette

This season, Oluwaseyi has not started a match but has made the most of his time on the pitch. Averaging 53 minutes of playing time per game, his six goals on the season lead the Big East. He has three game-winning goals against North Carolina State, Penn and Butler.

His teammate, junior defender Rafael Bustamante, was named to the Big East Honor Roll this week. The Corona native helped anchor a back-line that held Marquette to four shots on goal and 12 total shots in the Red Storm’s sixth clean sheet of the season.

Bustamante, who was named the Big East Defensive Player of the Week the prior week, also scored his first career goal and eventual game-winner in the 35th minute against Marquette.

The Red Storm will be back at Belson Stadium on Tuesday to face Temple. Kick-off of the team’s final non-conference matchup of the regular season is 7 p.m.
