Five members of the St. Joseph’s College (L.I.) men’s soccer team were named to All-Conference Team from the Skyline Conference.

The Golden Eagles placed three players on the All-Conference First Team: senior Justin Busto (Hauppauge), junior Marc Ceruti (Shoreham) and sophomore Rayneri Ruiz (Bay Shore). Members of the All-Conference Second-Team are senior Robert Gomez (Bay Shore) and sophomore Damian Duda (Riverhead).

Farmingdale State had two All-Skyline selections as sophomore forward Carlos Rivera (Huntington Station) and junior defender Kyle Gully (North Babylon) were both named Second Team All-Conference.

A former two-time Skyline Conference Weekly Honor Roll honoree, Busto earns an All-Conference nod for the first time in his career in his final collegiate season. Playing mostly as a midfielder, Busto finished third on the team in goals (4) and fifth in points (9). Busto’s two game-winning goals were second best.

Ceruti, a Suffolk County Community College transfer, started in all 17 matches for SJC this season and helped hold a backline that posted five shutouts. Ceruti and the SJC defense boasted a 1.82 goals-against average, which ranked fifth in the conference.

Ruiz, the team’s leader in goals (13) and points (31), claims a First-Team nod after figuring into 56 percent of SJC’s offensive production this season. A two-time recipient of Skyline Player of the Week and ECAC Metro Offensive Player of the Week honors, Ruiz led the conference in total shots (86) and shots-per-game (5.38) and was tied for second with four game-winning goals.

Additionally, Ruiz ranked fourth in points and points-per-game (1.94) and was fifth in goals and goals-per-game (.813).

Gomez, one of the team’s three captains, collected three assists on the year playing as a central defender and a holding midfielder. Duda, who appeared in 15 matches, led the team in assists (7) and was second in goals (5) and points (17).

Farmingdale State’s Rivera started 13 games in 2017 and led the team in goals (6), points (14), game-winning goals (2) and penalty kick goals (3-for-3). He ranked ninth in the Skyline Conference in points per game with 1.17. Gully started every game for Farmingdale State and anchored a defense that recorded three shutouts this season.
