Skyline Conference Honors Cintron-Leonardo, Martinez

Farmingdale State’s Julissa Martinez and St. Joseph’s (LI) Juliana Cintron-Leonardo were honored with Player of the Week honors by the Skyline Conference.

A sophomore forward from Brentwood, Martinez was named the conference Offensive Player of the Week. Cintron-Leonardo, a goalkeeper from Riverhead was named Defensive Player Of The Week. 

Martinez scored the lone goal in Farmingdale State’s 1-0 road win over No. 6 Misericordia on Sunday, September 8. This was her second game-winning goal of the season and fifth of her career. Through four games this season, Martinez leads the Rams with two goals. 

Cintron-Leonardo helped St. Joseph’s get a win and draw this past week. She made three saves to earn the clean sheet in the Golden Eagles 4-0 win over Brooklyn. In a 1-1 draw against Penn College, Cintron-Leonardo made seven saves.

  • Farmingdale State’s Daniella Ford of Elmont made 13 saves in a 2-1 loss to Trinity and eight saves in the win over Misericordia.
  • St. Joseph’s Christina Gagliardi of Ronkonkoma had two goals in the win over Brooklyn.
