Sky Blue FC’s Raquel Rodriguez is headed to Lima, Peru, to represent Costa Rica in the 2019 Pan American Games.

The 25-year-old midfielder from San José, Costa Rica, will join her National Team after Sky Blue FC plays the Houston Dash in Houston on Sunday, July 28.

Costa Rica kicks off the Pan American Games in Group B that same day against Panama at 5:30 p.m. ET. Group B consists of Costa Rica, Panama, Argentina, and Peru.

“Although my focus right now is on the remaining games with Sky Blue before I leave with the National Team, I am looking forward to getting together and playing again for my country with my teammates,” she said.

Rodriguez has been a key part of the Sky Blue FC roster since 2016 when she was drafted in the NWSL College Draft. The 2016 NWSL Rookie of the Year has made a total of 66 appearances, scoring eight goals, and notching three assists.
