Sky Blue FC’s Imani Dorsey has received her first call up to the United States Women’s National Team as new head coach Vlatko Andonovski works to finalize the team’s roster for two upcoming friendlies.

Now in her second year with Sky Blue, Dorsey has appeared in 30 matches over the past two seasons and has six goals. In 2018 she was named the NWSL Rookie of the Year and has previously played at the U.S. U-23 level.

Joining Dorsey in the 24-player camp is her Sky Blue teammate Carli Lloyd and Long Island native Allie Long of Reign FC. Eighteen players will be on the active roster for each match.

The United States will close out its World Cup-winning year with two matches. On November 7, the U.S. and Sweden will meet at MAPFRE Stadium in Columbus, Ohio, with kickoff set at 7:30 p.m. Jacksonville, Fla., will play host to the Americans when they meet Costa Rica on November 10 at TIAA Bank Field. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m.

Recently named head coach replacing Jill Ellis, Andonovski said his immediate goals are to build relationships with the players and shift the team’s focus.

“It was a tremendous summer for this team, but now the approach is different,” he said in reference to the team winning its second straight World Cup in France. “We have new goals and the most important thing is to shift the mentality and start moving forward because Olympic qualifying is just around the corner.”
