Sky Blue FC’s co-captain and 2019 Unsung Hero of the Year will be returning for another season.
Midfielder Sarah Killion and Sky Blue FC have agreed on a new contract ahead of the upcoming NWSL campaign. About to begin her sixth season with the New Jersey-based club, she reached the 100 game milestone in 2019. Killion played every minute this past season and was named the team’s Unsung Hero of the Year.
“I feel so excited to be back for another year with Sky Blue,” she said. “The momentum that we developed over the second half of last season is going to carry over this year. I love this group of girls and playing at Red Bull Arena is going to bring a new identity and new energy to our team.”
About to begin her sixth season with Sky Blue, Killion was the team’s second overall selection in the 2015 NWSL College Draft. She has appeared in 106 games with 11 goals and nine assists. Killion is the team’s all-time leader in minutes played, games played, games started and penalty kick goals with a total of eight.
“Sarah is a quintessential part of Sky Blue so we are thrilled to have her back for another season,” said Alyse LaHue, general manager for Sky Blue FC. “She is one of our team leaders who has quietly become one of the most important players in this league, so having her continue in this role during a historic season for this club is tremendous.”
