Sky Blue FC will begin preparations for the 2017 season with preseason matches against three college teams, including a trip to Queens to face the St. John’s Women’s Soccer Team.
The NWSL side returns to the pitch on March 25 at Belson Stadium where they will face the Red Storm. Kickoff is 3 p.m. A week later, Sky Blue FC returns to New Jersey to face the University of North Carolina on April 1 and eight days later will play Penn State University.
“We are really looking forward to getting started with our preseason schedule,” said Christy Holly, Sky Blue FC head coach. “This year, we will play an exceptional set of teams that present us with an array of challenges. Putting our players in this competitive environment will ultimately allow us to enter the NWSL season fully prepared so we can give our fans an exciting year.”
Admission for all Sky Blue FC preseason fixtures will be free of charge.
The April 1 match is set for 3:30 p.m. at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, N.J., while the match against Penn State set for 4 p.m. at a location still to be determined.
Sky Blue FC will play its 2017 regular season home opener when it hosts FC Kansas City on Sunday, April 30, at Yurcak Field on the campus of Rutgers University in Piscataway, N.J. Kickoff for that match is slated for 6 p.m.
