Sky Blue FC’s second match of the season at Red Bull Arena had two key similarities to the first one. A large crowd and a 1-1 final score.

In the team’s final home game of the 2019 season, Carli Lloyd’s goal in the 88th minute gave Sky Blue a share of the spoils in its 1-1 draw with the Orlando Pride. The match was played in front of 8,314 fans at the home of the New York Red Bulls.

This was the second time this season Sky Blue FC hosted a match at Red Bull Arena. On August 18, Sky Blue and Reign FC played to a 1-1 draw in from of a team-record crowd of 9,415.

Trailing 1-0 in the waning seconds of regulation time, Sarah Killion stood over a corner kick and sent it into the head of Lloyd. With two defenders surrounding her, she rose above them both and redirected her header into the right corner of the goal to level the match.

Sky Blue had a chance to steal the three points in stoppage time as Elizabeth Eddy took on goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris one on one. Harris was able to block the first shot, and as Eddy went for the rebound, she was taken down and a foul was awarded to Orlando.

The Pride took the lead in the 18th minute when Orlando defender Shelina Zadorsky scored to put the visitors ahead 1-0.

Sky Blue FC plays its final game of the season against the North Carolina Courage at WakeMed Soccer Park on Saturday, October 12, at 7 p.m. ET.
