Overview: Following a stretch of four matches in which Sky Blue FC’s defense allowed 18 goals, the clean sheet against Boston was a welcomed sight was goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan earned her third clean sheet of the season. On the offensive side of the ball, to the surprise of no one, it was Sam Kerr that provided the spark. In the fifth minute, Nikki Stanton recognized that Boston keeper Abby Smith was playing well off her line. She lofted a pass to Kerr, who took the ball and sped past Smith and tapped the ball into the open net. Kerr’s goal was her 16th of the season, placing her level with Kim Little’s all-time NWSL single-season record (2014).
