Six Long Island High Schools Hold Steady In National Polls

NSCAA, High School PollSix Long Island high schools maintained their places in weekly Top-25 national polls from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

On the boys side, Chaminade (7-1-1) is ranked No. 6, up one spot from the previous week. Brentwood (8-0-1) jumps two spots from last week’s poll and now sits at No. 11.

During the past week (Sept. 20-26) Chaminade had wins over Kellenberg 5-1, St. John The Baptist 5-0 and Delbarton 2-1. Brentwood continued to show its dominance in League I play this past week with wins over Sachem East 8-1 and Patchogue-Medford 6-0.

In the girls’ poll, Massapequa (7-0-0) is ranked No. 3, up two spots from the previous week; Islip (6-0-2) slides back one spot to No. 11; St. Anthony’s (6-0-0) also moves back one spot to No. 15; while Northport (7-0-0) holds steady at No. 23.

Massapequa during the past week (Sept. 20-26) defeated East Meadow 3-0, Port Washington 7-1 and Calhoun 4-1. Islip topped Southampton 6-0 in its lone match over the prior seven days, while St. Anthony’s had three clean sheets with wins over Sacred Heart 1-0, St. Francis Prep 7-0 and Immaculate Heart Academy 1-0. Northport also had three shutouts in wins over Lindenhurst 2-0, Whitman 3-0 and Central Islip 6-0.
