Sabrina Bryan’s second goal of the game 13 minutes into overtime gave the Hofstra women’s soccer team a much needed 3-2 win over Drexel.
Hofstra improved to 10-5-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the CAA while the Dragons slipped to 5-6-4 overall and 2-4 in the CAA. The win also marked the 12th consecutive season in which the Pride has won 10 or more games.
Bryan, a native of Cecil, PA, gave Hofstra an early lead with her first of the game in the 11th minute. Drexel’s Lauren Currey would level the match in the 24th minute but the Pride would regain the lead two minutes later when Lucy Porter converted off of a feed from Kings Park’s Jenn Buoncore.
Hofstra’s lead held until late in regulation when Currey would net her second of the game in the 84th minute to even the match at two.
Following a scoreless first overtime, Bryan and Buoncore connected once again early in the second extra session for the winning goal.
East Meadow’s Jenna Borresen made a career-best seven saves in picking up the win. Drexel keeper Libby Baeza had six saves in the loss.
Hofstra is on the pitch Sunday at 12 p.m. when it visits Elon.
