Two Long Island Rough Riders were named to the United Women’s Soccer Team of the Week for Week V following the team’s big win over Worcester Smiles.

Forward Kayla Saager and Defender Amanda Buck were honored for their play in Long Island’s 6-0 win. Saager scored a hat trick in the victory while Buck was honored for her play on the Rough Riders backline. It was Buck’s second straight appearance on the UWS Team of the Week.

  • M Samantha Dewey (Indiana Union) * – 4 goals in 2 wins propels Xavier University star to the top of the UWS chart
  • M Chanel Johnson (Connecticut Fusion) – long-time forward became the playmaker in draw with Rochester
  • M Paige Hayward (Houston Aces) – dominated the midfield in win over El Paso
  • D Ellie Jean (New England Mutiny) – Penn State star shut down Worcester attack and contributed to the offense
  • D Chelsey Patterson (LA Galaxy OC) * – another excellent defensive performance from the converted former Cal State Fullerton midfielder
  • GK Madison Clem (Lansing United) – younger sister of former UWS Defensive POTY making own name in two wins
  • F Tori Sousa (Connecticut Fusion) * – 2 assists for former CCSU standout in a 2-2 draw with Rochester
  • F Taylor Wingerden (Rochester Lancers) – scored a rocket inside upper 90 that put the team up 2-1 in Fusion draw
  • M/F Christina Arteaga (FC Austin Elite) – All-Southland selection for Abilene Christian Univ. notches a goal and an assist in loss
  • M Rachel Dewey (Indiana Union) – Sam’s younger sister Rachel held down the midfield in two wins
  • M Briana Woodall (San Antonio Athenians) – Sam Houston State star helped orchestrate Athenians attack in comeback win
  • GK Kenna Kosinski (Rochester Lancers) – 9 saves including a number of big stops in a 2-2 draw vs. Connecticut
