Led by Kayla Saager’s hat-trick, the Long Island Rough Riders got a much-needed win Friday night defeating New York Magic 5-1 in United Women’s Soccer action.

With the victory, Long Island is now in a position to qualify for the UWS East Division finals, which will be hosted by New Jersey Copa FC this Tuesday. The Rough Riders close out the season on Sunday at Cy Donnelly Stadium at St. Anthony’s High School against the Lancaster Inferno and need three points.

On Friday against winless New York at Cy Donnelly Stadium, the Magic took an early lead on a goal by Maria Logan just two minutes in. But the Rough Riders would level the match four minutes later on a goal by Morgan Santoro (Islip).

At the 16 minute mark, Kimberly Marra (Sayville) would give Long Island its first lead of the game and Saager of East Islip would double the Rough Riders’ advantage two minutes later.

After halftime, Saager would complete her natural hat-trick with goals at the 64th minute and 84th minute.
