A first-half blast from Connor Lade proved to be all the New York Red Bulls needed in its 1-0 win over expansion side FC Cincinnati.

Welcoming Major League Soccer’s newest team to Red Bull Arena for the first time, New York snapped a five-match winless streak. In addition, the win was also the team’s 100th league victory at RBA, which opened in 2010.

On the goal-scoring play, New York hit Cincinnati on the counter-attack. Brian White found Daniel Royer at the top of the 18-yard box. Royer then flicked the pass that found Lade, who put his laces through a shot that rocketed past Cincinnati keeper Przemyslaw Tyton and under the crossbar.

Lade’s 38th-minute goal would prove to be the game winner as Luis Robles earned his first clean sheet of the season.

New York continues its three-match homestand on Saturday, May 4, when the Red Bulls host LA Galaxy. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
