For the first time this season, the New York Red Bulls have won back-to-back matches following its 3-2 win over the LA Galaxy.

The victory was the third for New York on the season, while the loss was only the second during the 2019 campaign for the Galaxy.

In a back-and-forth affair that saw the two teams exchange leads, the game-winning goal came in the 67th minute from Derrick Etienne, Jr.

On the play that led to the goal, Daniel Royer connected with Omir Fernandez, who found Etienne, Jr. open in the middle of the box. Etienne, Jr. slotted home what would prove to be the game-winning goal.

New York grabbed the lead in the 15th minute on a goal from Amro Tarek. On the play, Marc Rzatkowski’s free-kick into the box found Brian White who chipped the ball behind him into a crowded box. Tarek picked up the loose ball and finished to the near post.

But LA would score twice to grab the lead just before halftime. In the 39th minute, Uriel Antuna would get on the end of a cross from Zlatan Ibrahimovic to tie the match at one. Four minutes later, Ibrahimovic would beat Red Bulls keeper Luis Robles to give the Galaxy a 2-1 lead at the break.

New York would come back to tie the game in the 59th minute when Rzatkowski connected with a Connor Lade cross and found the back of the net.

Lade (1 goal, 1 assist) and Royer (2 assists) both have tallied points in back-to-back matches. Lade record points in back-to-back matches for the first time in his career.

Luis Robles made three saves en route to his 104th career Major League Soccer win. He moved into a tie with Stefan Frei for eighth all-time in league history.

New York concludes its three-match homestand on Wednesday, May 8, against the Montreal Impact. Kickoff is slated for 8 p.m.
