Over its five-game winless streak, goals have been hard to come by for the New York Red Bulls.

The story repeated itself on Saturday in New England when the Revolution defeated the Red Bulls 1-0 at Gillette Stadium.

With New York scoring only three goals over the past five matches, the team’s lack of scoring was compounded by a rare mistake by goalkeeper Luis Robles.

In the 73rd minute, a low shot by New England substitute Cristian Penilla found its way under Robles for the game’s only goal.

The Red Bulls outshot New England 13-9 (5-2 on goal), with the host’s having a slight edge in possession 53-47. Cody Cropper had fives saves on the night.

With the loss, New York falls to 1-4-2 (W-L-D) on the season while New England now sits at 2-5-1.

The Red Bulls return home next weekend to host expansion side FC Cincinnati for Autism Awareness Night on Saturday, April 27. Kickoff is set for 7 p..m.
