Puerto Rico Futbol Club (PRFC) will kick off its inaugural season in the North American Soccer League this summer and in preparation, will play an exhibition match in New York vs. the Puerto Rican National Team.
The match will be played Saturday, June 11, 7:30 p.m. at Belson Stadium on the campus of St. John’s University. Brooklyn-born Carmelo Anthony, PRFC owner and current member of the New York Knicks, will host the players in New York over the National Puerto Rican Day Parade weekend.
“Puerto Rico is part of my heritage, and in dedication of my father’s birthplace, it’s an honor to restore professional soccer with PRFC and support youth soccer projects with the Puerto Rico Football Federation,” said Anthony. “With the Puerto Rican Day Parade being an iconic institution and America’s largest cultural celebration, we are excited for the team to participate and show our community appreciation.”
