SUSA FC has further boosted its roster for the upcoming WPSL season with the addition of two players with strong roots to Suffolk County’s south shore.
Islip’s Mary O’Hara and West Sayville’s Kelly Marra will suit up for SUSA this summer as it kicks off play in its inaugural WPSL season. O’Hara is currently as a sophomore at Florida Atlantic University and Marra is also in her second year at the University of Massachusetts.
O’Hara, a graduate of Islip High School, appeared in 21 matches for the Owls this past season scoring three goals. This followed her freshman season in which she appeared in 22 matches and was named to the All-Conference USA Third Team and was also a member of the Conference USA All-Freshman Team.
At Islip High School, O’Hara was named the 2015 New York Player of the Year, was First Team All-State and helped lead her team to the New York State Class A Championship in 2015.
Marra, a graduate of Sayville High School, recently completed her first season at UMass in which she made 18 appearances with 3 goals and 1 assist. Perhaps the biggest highlight of her freshman season happened on September 17 when she scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 home victory over Yale.
During her high school days, she was one of Suffolk County’s top players and was honored as an All-Conference, All-County and All-League selection in her junior and senior seasons. She also helped lead Sayville to league titles in 2012 and 2013 and a county title in 2013.
