Overview: Delayed a day after Saturday’s heavy rains, the Cosmos battled to a hard-fought one-goal victory at home. The match did not start well for New York as Puerto Rico’s two goals one minute apart gave the visitors a 2-0 before the 20-minute mark. Momentum shifted in the 36th minute after PRFC’s Yuma’s challenge on midfielder Juan Guerra earned him a red card. New York would then equalize scoring goals five minutes apart just before halftime. The victory gave New York their first three points at home. Emirates Man of the Match honors deservedly went to Ledesma, who provided two assists during the match.
