Oceanside resident Michael D’Ambrosio has been selected as December’s Personality of the Month by the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA).
For 30 years, D’Ambrosio has been involved in youth soccer in the hamlet he has called home since 1981. His involvement started in 1988 when he first registered his daughter, Danielle. to play. He would eventually serve as an assistant coach of her Oceanside United teams for a decade.
From 1989 through 2003 D’Ambrosio served as a board member of the Oceanside United Soccer Club. He also served as Intramural Director of the Bob Schrager Labor Day Tournament Director and Co-Director of the Rudy Lamonica Indoor Tournament.
“Michael is an excellent choice for Eastern New York Personality of the Month as he is a hard-working, dedicated volunteer who always puts others before himself,“ said Anthony Maresco, president of the Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL).
Starting in 2004, D’Ambrosio took his volunteerism beyond Oceanside to LIJSL. From 2004 to 2012 he served as Trustee and over the past six years has been the league’s Second Vice President. He is also a member of the Long Island Junior Hall of Fame.
“Local soccer people know that when you need something done, you can call and depend on Mike D’Ambrosio,” said Richard Christiano, ENYYSA president. “It’s absolutely incredible the number of hours he volunteers for soccer and other organizations.”
